Dhaffer L'Abidine

Before his sky-rocketing breakthrough in the Arab world, Dhafer L'Abidine enjoyed a successful career in the West, appearing in international film productions such as Children of Men, Sex and the City 2, Centurion, Black Forest and Rise of the Footsoldier. Born in Tunisia, Dhafer relocated to the UK to join the Birmingham School of Speech & Drama, from which he graduated with a Diploma in Professional Acting Studies in 2002. After graduating, Dhafer made his acting debut in the UK in the popular TV series Dream Team (Sky TV), where he remained for two seasons. He then went on to appear in numerous British television dramas, including Spooks (BBC), Strike Back (Sky TV/CINEMAX), Wallander (ITV), Wire in the Blood (ITV) and Hunted (BBC/HBO).
Recently, Dhafer appeared in Fearless on ITV and Crossing the Borders on channel 4.

He played a key role in season 5 of the French series Engrenages on Canal+, and the American series Transporter on TNT and HBO Canada. In 2018, he will be seen in the American TV series The Looming Tower, based on the book of the same name, which aired in February 2018 on Hulu.
In the Arab world, Dhafer starred in the TV hit Halawet El Dounia for which he received the prestigious Murex D'or for Best Arab Actor in a TV series in 2018. In 2016, he starred in Al Khoroug TV series. In 2015, he starred in Taht Al Saytara TV drama, for which he won Best Actor at the Arab Satellite Channels Festival. He won critical acclaim for his performances in Farq Tawqeet (2014), Neran Sadeqa (2013), Vertigo (2012) and Zakerat Al Jassed (2010), and 4 seasons of the celebrated Tunisian TV series Maktoub (2008-2014).

Most recently, L'Abidine starred in the latest TV hit; the period drama Layali Eugine that aired in Ramadan 2018. Set against the backdrop of the 1940s, the events of Layali Eugine take place between Cairo and Port Said.

L'Abidine starred in the Tunisian feature film Fin December, the Egyptian action comedy film Esmat Abu Shanab by director Sameh Abdulaziz, and the Lebanese film Habbet Caramel, a spinoff of the TV series Caramel.

As a TV host, Dhafer has several successful TV shows under his belt, including: Prince of Poets (2007), a prestigious talent show competition which searches for the most talented poets in the Arab region. The show was extremely successful and attracted more than 20 million viewers in each live episode. Dhafer has recently hosted the Arab version of the international game show The Cube on Dubai TV.

In 2017, he became the face of the Tunisian fashion brand Hamadi Abid (HA). L'Abidine is also the face of the biggest Arab cable channel, Orbit Showtime Network (OSN), as he endorses its latest marketing campaign that focuses on how stories connect people, Orange network in Egypt, and Stone Residence.
